It had a really great ending but it was very boring.

Okay, I only read the Introduction and Ch. 10, but I'm really into texts about Enlightenment Rationale and this is one of the "big names" in that domain.

This book is just lovely and so well-written. It bounces around a lot between historical myths told by storytellers and the overall plot of the novel. I tend to read books in many short settings which made reading this book a little more difficult - it always took me a few minutes to remember where I was and what was happening in which "mini-story" set within the larger book. Overall a really nice read though.

umm, the book was an interesting and well-received perspective, common to many. but there's this weird argument he uses that says that we all "love ourselves" because we all "do what we think will make us happiest". sorry, but as an example - what about the suicidal? is it love when they kill themselves? NO! NO! NO! ...that is the definition of hate, self-hate. from this point, the book begins to break down. ...ultimately, i don't really think that "the glory of God" is God's greatest desire or His main characteristic, i think that love, agape love, is God's greatest desire and His main characteristic. what do you think...if you could only speak one sentence because you were about to die, would you turn to your young children and say, "do all for the glory of God" OR "love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself" ??? ....look, God is love. if you desire God, then you desire Love. and, then, what does God desire from us?? glory? perhaps, but i suspect the answer is a lot easier, and clearly spelled out in the Great Commandments. God desires us to love Him, ourselves and each other like He does. and, by the way, i can't imagine anything more glorifying than that.

Great Sci Fi YA book. I thought it started a little slow at first but surely picked up the pace. My 14yo really liked it as well.
