I bought this at the airport this morning and almost finished it. Is it wrong to not feel sorry for this woman as she describes her grieving an endlessly privileged and enchanted life? She has lived and loved more than most people dream of, and I found myself feeling envious. I kept wanting her to be grateful, instead of so wrapped up in what she didn't have anymore. I consider myself tremendously compassionate, and my own reaction surprises me throughout. Now that's art!

Very interesting and also sad. What a mess the Europeans and the Americans have made of the Arab world...
