This is a good lively read set in Venice during the Renaissance era. The narrator is the courtesan's dwarf, which gives a different perspective to the story. A good book to read in a car or on the plane or just to escape to another time and place.

While improbable that the circumstances of this story would ever have happened I still loved this seafaring adventure tale. I've yet to find a book by Avi that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed.
