As far as I remember this book won a reputable price. It was a good work about feelings, problems and chalengies that an immigrant will experience.

A very interesting take on the werewolf mythos. Set in Los Angeles, the story plays out in a series of turf wars between rivals gangs comprised of feral dogs (werewolves). The entire book is written as a poem, and I'd hoped to be able to get over the halting nature the line breaks brought to my reading rhythm, but it never really happened. I don't think anything would have been lost typesetting this book in standard prose. Like most mystery novels I read, there was one too many double-cross, three too many characters. I had trouble keeping up with all of the side stories and people who would flutter in and out of the story. Still, it was solid, giving a lot of good action and interesting character development, really studying what it means to be a wolf when you're human, and what it means to be a human when you're a wolf. Social politics played a heavy part, moving the book from a light, fun read to a great new twist in the genre.
