This is a review for Inside Out and Outside In. 1. Writing: I do think that the writing was very well done, I've no problem of it. I just think that Maria Snyder could have avoided putting mathematical terms to the book, such as measurements and mathematical areas, and could have used metaphors and similes instead to describe more about the setting. 2. Plot: The story kept me on edge. Both books started at a slow pace, but it was very understandable. It built up on this tension that kept on piling up as the story progressed. And when the climax came, it never ended. The climax continued coming. 3. World: The world that Snyder created was very original from any Dystopia books that I've read. Spoiler alert, the environment wasn't set on Earth but rather in a different environment. I love the themes, I love the setting, I love the different roles in the society especially in Outside In. Snyder definitely swapped my mind back and forth on the second book, changing alliances and enemies. Instead of going with the flow, the second book definitely made my mind to critically think. 4. Character: I love books with different characters that has significant and crucial roles to the story. Snyder never created characters as a place-holder. She created them for a reason, and this is why I loved all of them. Trell was a strong female heroine. She made mistakes throughout the different sequences in the book, but she kept her head up and continued fighting toward her goal. I love Riley and his compassion to Trell and the citizens of Inside, Logan with his humor and vast knowledge of technology, Anne-Jaide for her bravery, Jacy for his leadership and deception, and Lamont for her motherly love. This book definitely have the roles found in a society. 5. Ending: I thought that the ending for both books were sped up. I just think that there could have been a final conclusion to answer all questions. After reading the series, I still have so many questions in mind. What happened to Outside? What happened to Inside? Will they actually reach Earth? What will happen to the society they've created? Will their plan work after all? Overall, Insider series was definitely a fantastic Dystopia read. I highly recommend it. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
