I waited for summer to read it. I think my timing was perfect. Not too deep. Just a very enjoyabale summer read.

What can I say? I love Sandra Dallas. She relates Kansas-Colorado history as story telling for the soul. She weaves her characters around history of the region and make them so real that you can relate to the time era and the events being told. You could hear the constant clanging sound of the dredge at the mine. You could feel that pain that Hennie had a secret she couldn't rest without settling. I will admit that I do like some of her novels better than others, but the Persian Pickle Club had me hooked. I followed with Diary of Mattie Spencer and Tallgrass. I can't wait to see what she writes next.
