All in all, I thought this book was very good. I hate to say this but the book was boring(?) in some parts. Especially the parts where Jolly and Munk traveled to the Maelstorm. It was just awkward and weird for me. It was a little confusing at times because I didn't really understand the stories about who the maelstorm was. The ending was weird. Maybe the ending was good for some people, but it was a little weird for me. I was expecting more of a final BANG. But, other than that, the book was enjoyable. I might check out Kai Meyer's other books.
I loved this book as much as I enjoyed Doms of Dark Haven 1. All of the stories in the book were very good. Each very specific to the strengths of each author but twined together nicely. Very hot and addictive. The only problem I had was that it kept me so involved in the story that I couldn't put it down and I read it way faster than I would have liked. I can't wait to return to Dark Haven!!
“Of mice and men” by John Steinbeck a wonderful book for mature kids but it also has many controversies. A book that I probably would not even open based upon the cover because of it’s dull appearance when open or read past the first couple of pages the book is actually quite interesting. Well that’s what I believe and you should to with all the violent things that take place in the story you can’t take yours eyes off it. Also with the many incredible motifs used in this books it left your mind remembering them for hours after you finished reading the story for the day. This story leaves you with some melancholic feelings toward the end also this had me finish the book with tears running down my chicks. Violence something that attracts many people in this great country attracted me in this story. So the violent things in this story are only appealing to the wants of the many people in this country who like to hear and view violent acts amongst each other. Some of the violent things that appealed to me in the story were when curly and Lennie tangled even though it was just in the book I felt that Lennie put the fear of god in Curly’s eyes. Also another violent act that had me on the edge of my seat was when Lennie kilt Curly’s wife. Motifs a term I wasn’t familiar with before this year in English. This book was felled with them some you may not have even noticed like the way everything Lennie pets and believes is soft he winds up killing it. Or another motif is the story Lennie repeatedly asks George to state in the book. And the least common motif is the one where Lennie always makes mistake which gets him chased by a mob. Sad this was the expression on my face by the end of the story. At the end I felt as though I had a slight connection with Lennie and Curly’s wife and understood their pain. Both just misunderstand by everyone they just were outlaws to society. When Lennie accidentally ended the life of Curly’s life I was sadden because her death was unnecessary and accidental. The thing that put me over the top though was when George had to put the luger to the back of the head of his best friend and pull the trigger. This story is one for the ages and one that I’ll always remember. I was given the chance to read about things I like to see in movies such as violence. The motifs were something new to me that I learned this year and this book helped me understand it perfectly. Melancholy feelings were felt or should have been felt in my thoughts by any and everyone that felt a connection with Lennie or Curly’s wife.
