Let me start out by saying that I really wanted to like this book. I wanted to finish this book feeling touched and determined to re-evaluate my life. However, when I finished this book I was only left with the impression that Randy Pausch was just writing about how splendid his life was. The writing was engaging and I could follow the tone easily, but I just couldn't seem to connect with the accomplishments that he wrote about. Although, I felt that there were snippets of advice and "things to live your life by", they weren't at all something that I would take and change my life. I felt that the only wisdom that he established by writing this book is his belief that everyone can achieve their childhood dreams. Some parts of the book were heartwarming and those sections I did enjoy. Overall, The Last Lecture's message didn't really hit home for me but I would suggest others to read it.
