First of all, this is my absolute most favorite book of all time. I've probably read it three to five times, and I only like it more each time. Another thing, don't see the movie. The book is grittier and just generally better. Crichton is a genius at combining the factual with the fictional; thus creating the best sci-fi in the world! He does an amazing job at setting up the plot and making the dinosaurs, when they come in approximately a fifth of the way through, so much more believable. Speaking of dinosaurs you'd think Crichton was a paleontologist with the way he describes the way the animals move, and well, kill all the annoying characters. (That bit when the dilophosaur slices Nedry open gives me chills every time.) All the tyrannosaur attacks, the venomous dilophosaurs, and the teeny compys, are nice, but the real fun begins when the velociraptors escape their fences. What follows is chaos, spilled guts, and nature red in tooth and claw! Pretty good stuff.
