I fell in love with Alice Walker while reading this book. It has served as a pivotal catalyst for my love of literature. Although I am not Black nor am I a woman I felt strongly connected to the humanness of each and every character. Once I got through the harshness of the first few pages the rest of the book is sheer life. Reading through Celie's ups and downs, and her loves and her pants is sure to spark emotion in anyone who comes across this book.
