This was my first experience with Hemmingway. Ok. I get it. I finally understand why he is "great". I agree. Excellent story. The character of the old man comes through in action mostly and his own musings. I enjoyed how the story progressed and the unique relationship between the boy and the old man. I imagine, that this is a great starting point for a new Hemmingway reader. He won the Pulitzer in 1953 for this story and I am very interested in reading his other work. (mainly For Whom the Bell Tolls) I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in discovering the style of Hemmingway. It's a short read. I'm a slow reader and it took about 2 or 2 1/2 hours total to finish. Well worth the time.
