If there were half stars on this rating system, I'd have given it another half star cause it was DEFINATELY better than its predecessor, Ishmael. That is probably because the main character, 12 year old Julie Gerchak, kicks Alan Lomax's butt. She's much more interesting and amusing and, well, much brighter than Alan. As a result, her lessons with Ishmael are much more fast-paced and her chemistry with Ishmael is also more intriguing. It was more interesting than the original, but a lot of what is in it is a repeat phrased in new fables.

This book is great...about the author's crazy upbringing. Sometimes sad, but damn funny when it's not sad. One of the best memoirs I've ever read.

I loved Sabriel and I loved this book just as much or even more, Garth Nix's books are the very first books I have ever read that are 600 pages long and not even be noticeable, its over so quick but all you want to do is keep on reading which is what makes this book so great!

I forget why I picked up this book in the first place, but I have been in love with Isabel Allende's writing ever since. I'm a sucker for sweeping historical fiction sagas with gripping family ties, and Allende's characters are so powerful you feel they could be your own sisters, grandmothers, or mother.
