The scandal took place in 1953 Rome. The book treats the whole thing much as a Fellini filmscript, written in short disjointed scenes, linking (or not) disparate elements to provide a view of a post-war Rome moving into a modern world of instant celebrities and short bursts of fame amid corruption and perhaps ineptitude. Read for Spring Challenge 10.7

A delightful read, and a book group favorite. Would appeal to a wide age range.
