I've heard many of the arguments from this book before in some form, but for whatever reason many of them were more compelling here. It gave me a lot to think about, specifically regarding my kids' education and the way we use our time in our family. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I found the satire hard to follow sometimes -- when I could sit down for an hour or so and read an entire chapter at a time, the satire was sharp and effective. But when I had to read smaller chunks at a time (which happens a lot in this season of life with little kids underfoot) I found it hard to tell sometimes when he was really praising something or he was lambasting it in satire. So if you pick this up, set aside time to read it with as little interruption as you can, and prepare to rethink things in your life. It's well worth the time and effort.
