Weird. I reviewed this but it shows up as the wrong author... i can't be bothered to re-review it but I really liked it. Not sure why it is on goodreads twice, once with the wrong author - I guess maybe I reviewed the screenplay? Anyway. It's great
I’ve never read Chabon’s fiction, but I enjoyed this autobiography, set up as a series of personal essays on a variety of unconnected topics. I think the title is a bit misleading as the book is about manhood mostly in the sense that it is the life of a man being told, but he does occasionally make a more pointed comment about being a man or a father in this day and age. He’s 45, lives in Berkeley, married to another author, father of 2 girls and 2 boys. Most of it is pretty ordinary, but it’s comforting that feminist, involved fathers are becoming ordinary. Worth a read.
