"A Red Herring without Mustard" is the usual run of the mill Flavia de Luce. I did enjoy the tidbits about her mother and of course, all of the antics with her sisters is always highly amusing but I felt the mystery part of the story left a lot to be desired. The denouement of the mystery is weak and kind of came out of nowhere as did the resolution regarding the whole Brookie Harwood affair (which I also found to be very ambivalent). All in all, the only reason I'll keep reading this series is for the humorous relationship Flavia has with her sisters. Not a book to grab if I'm looking for a good solid, fast paced mystery.
One of my all-time favorites! Fascinating history, hot romance, time travel and swashbuckling adventure! I heart Jamie! And Claire!
Like all of David Sedaris' other books, these autobiographical and comic short stories tell the endearing stories of his incredibly quirky family and the traumatic (yet harmless) childhood memories we all have. I don't think it quite lives up to Me Talk Pretty One Day, it is in the same vein. While perhaps not the most literary book, David Sedaris is a talented writer and quite witty. My favorite was the story about the winter holidays are celebrated in the Netherlands
