I was disappointed in this best seller. That is not to say that it wasn't an entertaining read. It was amusing.... but all the characters were flawed in ways that made me anticipate their falls with impatience. The only interesting and sympathetic character is the "emperor's" wife and she is basically a stick figure who is never developed. An okay, but very forgettable book.
