Slaughterhouse Five... I've heard the name over and over again throughout the years but had never read it. I enjoy Science Fiction, and clearly, this novel has regularly been on the lists of the best Science Fiction books of all times. What were my thoughts? I found it very difficult to follow. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but the timeline is convoluted for reasons that are important to the story. But, keeping everything in place in time while reading was very difficult. Without giving away too much of the plot, Billy Pilgrim, the hero of the story, is a World War II veteran who served briefly behind Nazi lines as a chaplain's assistant; He is a successful optometrist in New York; He survived terrible head trauma; He is a zoo animal on a planet far, far away, and he has the ability to either see through our move through time. Each of these stories intertwines as Billy shifts from one timeline to the next. The first few chapters were very difficult to understand before getting a handle on what he was doing and why. But, as the book progressed, the timelines became more closely knitted; the book became more understandable and therefore more readable. To enjoy this, you need to get through the first two or three chapters. Once you make it through them, you're home free. Overall, it was an interesting albeit far fetched story

This was a great book. You should read it. I would read it again if I could find it...
