I had a rough time reading this book for two reasons. First of all, I found it impossible to like any of the characters, with the exception of Albert, the aging patriach of the family. Secondly, my grandfather died of complications from Parkinson's Disease when I was about 10, and reading through the detailed account of Albert's gradual decline into dementia was extremely difficult. Overall, a depressing book but a well-written one...I highly recommend it, but also want to give a warning that it will exhaust you emotionally.

The best sci-fi book nobody's heard of.
