This is really a three and a half star book. I enjoyed it as a light-hearted reading experience as I always do enjoy Kenneth Lillington's books. He's not among my top favourite authors, but he always manages to amuse me and he has an original turn of circumstance and character. The first book I read by him was The Secret Arrow, which is bewilderingly similar to Geoffrey Trease's Crown of Violet.

This was the first Horror book I read and the first from this author. It was great! I love a book that challenges my immagination. It was creappy and scary and I could not put it down. Been on a mission to read all his books since.
