It's pretty clear to me why Harding won the Pulitzer Prize for his novel. His writing is beautiful, descriptive, yet, at times, stark. It's simply elegant, and it felt like New England. I appreciated the layering of stories of the various generations - and particularly enjoyed learning Howard's story. A quick (I read it within a day) and very enjoyable read.
