** spoiler alert ** The second volume of the Sandman Slim series features our intrepid (defined - dead, recently returned from Hell, and virtually invincible) facing Lucifer's enemies, various powerful Sub Rosa families, and an army of the undead. On the way he meets up with movie moguls, powerful and not so powerful users of magic, and a porn star who just happens to be a zombie killer. Kill the Dead was fun and exciting, but not as fun and exciting as the first book in the series. The sense of urgency and impending doom for the characters was lacking somewhat. Perhaps it was just that I was really looking forward to a rematch between Stark and Mason (who is often mentioned but never appears). The latter third of the book, where Stark starts to disappear, leaving only the angelic portion of his Nephilim heritage is interesting, but I missed the wise-cracking, ultra-violent human half. All in all an enjoyable read. I am looking forward to the next one.
Very moving. It's a good read for females who firmly believe in women empowerment.
