Her issues with her mother made her likable. She truly knew what it was like to be the adult of the family. The author clearly has experience in this aspect as she portrayed it very well. Her father I’m sure I’ll come to like him, but at the moment, no I think he’s sorta despicable. I’ll just say this now I want Dana with Keane not with Ethan. Kimber though seems like a good friend. Even if she does have a posset (an alcoholic drink) at the ready at all times when she really shouldn’t. And underage binge drinking is just dangerous in of itself. (Btw, I like alcohol, but those with alcoholic parents have to be especially careful. Luckily, I do not have an addictive personality (or alcoholic parents), cause I love me some Sangria!) I especially like Finn. I have a feeling he's going to be the fatherly influence she needs to be able to handle all the obstacles that will be thrown in her way during this transition period into her new life. This is a good book with all the elements to make it great. Politics, magic, dysfunctional families. But it can lack substance in certain areas. I mainly have issues with it just being okay that she’s drinking underage with an alcoholic for a mother.
