This was a good read. It's a sad story, but the way Krakauer wrote it, I could relate to Chris McCandless. It made me want to get out my old copy of Leaves of Grass, and take that into the woods with me on my next hike.

Greene does a good job of putting some complex ideas into lay-language. That said, this is an overview of the search for the TOE (theory of everything) and where it stands today. There is a fair amount of personal bias in Greene's writing but well worth the time if you like thinking about things big and small.
