If you have read Chinese Cinderella, I recommend to start reading this one about 100 pages into it if you want to know the "rest" of the story. What a sad life she had. Though she ended up finding happiness with her husband it never got any better with her family. Even as an adult she still sought for belonging, acceptance and love. Her life is quite depressing but I find strength in her.
