Amazing book about the Holocaust and mother-daughter communication. Different perspective. Very intense. Couldn't put it down
not nearly as good as gone with the wind. and i have to say, i think alexandra ripley doesn't catch scarlett's true spirit. all of a sudden she's loving and kind. but what happened to ruthless, bitchy scarlett? and at the end, rhett tells her they're "wandering souls" or some bullshit like that. well what happened to that huge fight in gone with the wind to save the plantation? i don't buy it.
At first, I was hesitant to start reading this book. It was recomended basically from every teacher of mine but I was afraid that I was biting off more than I could chew. I'm glad I listened to my teachers because this book ended up being my favorite. Not only did it discuss racial prejudice and unfairness but it emphasized the importance of family, judgement of strangers and the power of storytelling. Harper Lee is an amazing author. I enjoyed her writing style and her prose as well. Make sure you pick up this book at the library or at your bookstore. It is an absolute must-read.
Every time I come across something that hasn't been designed well (usually a door handle...), I think back to this book.
