I loved this book. It was a great read told from a dog's point of view. As a new dog owner it really hit home for me and made me look at the bond between a dog and man differently.

My favorite book of all time!

Tragic from page one and beautiful to the end, this is a must-read. Walker unashamedly tackles questions of god, gender, race, and love, all while reveling in the bond between sisters and women. I gasped, laughed aloud, cried, smiled, and in the end, emerged feeling triumphant. Wonderful. A terrific example of African-American dialect and its power to move you.

Although the writer seems to be a bit of a new-age'er, the book is fascinating.

Inspirational, but not very deep. The book gives an amazing account of his accomplishments, but not a look into the inner mind of the ultra marathon man... You get the feeling even he doesn't know why he pushes himself so hard.

If I had really, thoroughly read the synopsis before reading this, maybe I would have realized that this just wouldn't be a "me" book. It had an intriguing promise, but with one-dimensional characters, way too many infodumps and an unbelievable romance, this book just didn't hit any highs for me.
