Probably the strongest, most well-written voice for a narrator I've read so far in this Noir class. The plot itself, while kind of winding, isn't too hard to follow, and the pace is quick as a bullet. There's an unusual amount of homophobia apparent throughout, however, which may not actually be unusual for this time period in this genre, I don't know. Women and homosexuals don't get a lot of fair play in this genre, I'm well aware. Are there any contemporary authors out there doing anything to change this?
