A definitely to the point and detailed story of India's partition. It puts a lot of confusions to rest. I personally didn't have any clue of the partition, until i read this book. Definitely recommended.

My daughter actually recommended this book and warned me not to let the title or the cover turn me off, which they initially did. I read this book in a day, engrossed by the characters' relationships as well as the internal conflicts happening within and between characters on a number of levels. I would definitely recommend this book to YA readers as I think they could relate to both the plot and characters. The dialogue, at times, can seem a little deep and uncharacteristic of the characters, but overall, the relationships were smoothly interconnected and real. I really felt sympathy for Ginny, Caulder, and Smitty, and I admired their friendship and their willingness to hang on to it by always redefining, exploring, and stretching it. Even my husband, who does not read YA books, agreed that he thought it was well-written and engaging.
