This was my first read of 2009, and I have to say that I enjoyed the five copies I got for Christmas. Although not as comprehensive as the Harry Potter books, Beedle the Bard is meant to serve as a vehicle for a key plot element in "Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows". The rest of the book is filled with stories that revolve about the same morality issues of the magic-filled world where Wizards live, mainly, Magic as a way to improve life, greed and inmortality, etc. An interesting aspect was Dumbledore's commentary. One of the most mysterious characters in the universe, Dumbledore gives some personal insightful information about wizardly manners related to the story. "Beedle" serves more of a commentary about the dangers of "magic" in Harry Potter's society. It is written in a simplistic way, yet its contents provide great lessons on how to use the talents we all possess. Meant to be read as a children's book, it is a valuable resource for all Potter fans.
