I really considered giving this book a 4/5, but I opted for a 3 just to avoid the all-too-common phenomena of grade inflation (how I made it through college). The story is interesting despite its meandering character, the first part of the book (litterally up until the 50% mark on my kindle) is about his abandonment on and subsequent treck across Africa and the second part is about his adventures as a pirate. By far, the most annoying thing about this book is that it would superficially describe some great adventure and then say something like, "but that account is far to long to be mentioned here." Also, the end is somewhat hastily tied up. Other than that, it made for a decent adventure tale. The worst: Superficial descriptions of important or interesting events. The best: The adventures described are fairly interesting.
