First thoughts: this is a cozy mystery for the chick lit crowd. Since I read neither genre, I'm a bit surprised to have enjoyed it. I blame the way the author puts off telling what the mystery actually is until at least halfway through, and then adds another mystery on top of it. The hints are enough to keep you going until then. Besides the half-joking suspense, I enjoyed the tone and the characterizations, and the book is fundamentally well-written in an easy, engaging style. The tie-up is a little too easy, but after the tone of the rest it's not a jarring deal breaker.
