This was the first time I've read a testimony of a conversion to Islam. I found Malcolm X and his life experience fascinating. I think it is interesting how some race-related issues have changed and others have not changed that much since the time of his writing 40+ years ago. I have witnessed or experienced some of what he writes about and, while I don't agree with many of his conclusions about reasons or solutions, I do think there is still plenty of room for improvement in this area in our country. Reading accounts such as this strengthens my conviction that education is a major equalizing tool and everyone in this country, regardless of the tax zone they live in, is entitled to a quality education. It would actually be to the benefit of everyone if no child would be allowed to fall through the cracks.
