2.5 stars? still not sure about this series. i like the magic, the characters are interesting but sometimes too sterotypical/expected... like their roles are very structured despite their personalities distinct. also this was unexpectedly gory, though in context and not extraneous, so in that case, the writing was quite effective in bringing me to new viewpoints and considering the blurry ground between 'good' and 'evil'... will keep reading for now and see how the writing and characters evolve. can't quite put my finger on what is off about the portrayal of Dresden... or if it is just that the flow can be wooden at times... hmm...
